To address a longstanding need in the industry, and by popular request, the BSA-AML Compliance Group is launching a certification program dedicated to compliance professionals, auditors, investigators, analysts, and supervisors/managers in the gaming industry. And because regulators and law enforcement have stressed that “compliance is everyone’s responsibility,” the program is relevant not just to those in compliance departments, but for other gaming personnel, including cage, surveillance, table games, legal, human resources, and others.

The new BSA/AML Gaming Compliance Professional certification program is tailored for gaming professionals working for casinos, card clubs, sports books, gaming platform providers, payment processors, service providers, and gaming-related vendors.

This program is designed by recognized experts in the BSA/AML field with decades of regulatory, law enforcement, and casino-specific knowledge.

Several things motivated this new initiative:

• • Many existing AML certification programs are generic, and lack the unique risks, processes, and focus on the gaming industry. Other programs focus on banking, securities, or other industries, with limited usefulness or relevance to the gaming industry. Gaming is special.

• • Some companies have decided to “sunset” their certification programs, leaving gaming compliance professionals and the industry without an accreditation for this specialized body of knowledge.

• • The industry needs it. Compliance professionals play a critical role in supporting the gaming industry: protecting their companies, partnering with law enforcement, and assisting in the fight against money laundering, sanctions evasion, and other forms of illicit finance.

• • Government examiners and the regulations expressly state that casinos and card clubs must have trained, capable personnel responsible for the day-to-day compliance with their AML programs and the rules. Companies expect that their compliance personnel are experts in what they do and will protect their businesses from being used for illegal activity.

• • Compliance professionals deserve robust, serious, up-to-date training, and the recognition—within their companies, within the industry, and among their peers—that comes with being a BSA/AML Gaming Compliance Professional. This acknowledgement provides professional credibility, enhanced marketability, and access to a community of qualified professionals.
