How to Become GCP Certified

Review Your Eligibility

Use the online eligibility tool to receive an initial recommendation based on:

  • Years of gaming experience
  • BSA/AML responsibilities
  • Existing professional credentials
  • Student or government employment status

Your result will indicate whether you are likely to enter through Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3.

Important: The eligibility result is an initial recommendation. Final placement is determined during application review.

Submit Your Application

Complete the online application and provide information about your:

  • Employment history
  • Gaming and compliance responsibilities
  • Existing certifications
  • Professional background
  • Eligibility disclosures
  • Agreement to the GCP Code of Ethics

Tier 1 and Tier 2 applicants must also upload a current résumé and supporting documentation for qualifying credentials.

Applications are reviewed before payment is collected.

Receive Your Tier Assignment

Tier 1: Direct Exam

For applicants with at least five years of relevant gaming experience involving primary BSA/AML responsibility.

Tier 2: Experienced Credential Holder

For applicants with at least two years of relevant gaming experience and a recognized professional credential.

Tier 3: Guided Study Track

For applicants who do not yet meet the direct examination requirements or who would benefit from structured preparation.

Complete Your Required Preparation

Tier 1 and Tier 2

Proceed to the examination preparation materials and schedule the GCP exam.

Tier 3

Receive 12 months of access to the GCP learning platform and complete 14 online modules.

Knowledge checks are included throughout the learning experience. Candidates must achieve at least 80% on each required knowledge check before advancing.

Sit for the GCP Exam

The GCP certification examination includes:

  • 100 questions
  • Three-hour testing period
  • Online-proctored delivery
  • 80% passing score
  • First attempt included
  • One complimentary retake

Candidates who do not pass after two attempts may be required to complete the training modules before testing again. A maximum of four total attempts is permitted under the proposed framework.

Earn and Use Your Credential

Successful candidates may:

  • Use the GCP professional designation
  • Download a digital certificate
  • Receive a unique GCP credential number
  • Appear in the public credential directory
  • Access the GCP member portal
  • Track continuing education and recertification
  • Participate in the professional GCP community

Maintain Your Credential

GCP holders renew annually by:

  • Maintaining active membership
  • Completing the annual continuing-education requirement
  • Paying the $295 annual membership and renewal fee
  • Continuing to comply with the GCP Code of Ethics
